but even if…

“If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to save us from it, and he will rescue us from your hand, O king. BUT EVEN IF he does not, we want you to know, O king,  that we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up.” (Daniel 3: 17-18, emphasis mine)

But even if. When our brains start to question things, there’s often an “if” involved. “If God is good, why do bad things happen to good people?” Or there’s the “what if” that can produce fear and anxiety…”What if I lose my job?” But by faith, we can answer every “if” with “even if.” “Even if bad things happen to good people (as seen from our temporal, human perspective), I know God is in control and works all things together for good.” “Even if I lose my job, I trust God and know He will take care of our family.”

Try taking any question or concern you might have today and plopping “but even if” in front of it. Because of our faith in God’s grace, we can choose to live free of fear and anxiety!
